GARRENteed PHOTOGRAPHY. 2018.

Very grateful for my friend, Scott aka @woodlandcravings, for being a nice boy, a fellow creative, and also, yesterday he surprised me with some super duper delicious pine nuts that he collected out in the wild. Thank you, sir.

I asked him to provide some insight for the caption portion of this photograph.

The man came at me with eloquent knowledge bombs!

Scott:

“This photo really made me yearn to be back in those special forests where I #foraged these wild #Piñon (#PinusMonophylla), alternatively known as #PineNuts.  Of all my #foraging experiences, being with the crew that I was with and the primitive living lifestyle I lived with them in order to come home with a bounty is one I will never ever forget.  Being unable to attend the 2017 harvest really made me understand how important it will be for me to try and make this trip an annual ritual as much as I can through the course of my life.  This place and the people whom I was with really taught me so much about not just foraging and taking but also Wild Tending the land.  With all of our harvested #Piñons, we gave 10% percent to be handed off to another crew who engaged in the planting of these seeds at the forests edges to help trees continue to expand and grow new forests.  We must all remember to not only Take from the environment which provides us with everything we need, but to also Give.  This goes for all humans, #foragers especially!  Each time I am out on the trails I always pick up trash left behind from other humans, this is my way of constantly giving while I am taking.  There are many ways we can contribute to caring.  If we all, as a community remember to take care of what we Love, then these resources will persist for the future.  With my remaining couple pounds from last years harvest, I use these pine nuts ever so sparingly now.”
